Iranian Nationality Room Community Meeting - Sunday, February 13th PDF Print E-mail
Written by Arash Farsi
Friday, 28 January 2011 10:00

If you are interested in the effort to build an Iranian Nationality Room in Cathedral of Learning, please make an effort to attend the meeting announced below.

Also, please spread the word to anyone else you think might be interested.

Thank you!

---------------------------------------------------------------

The emphasis on ethnic identity and the search for one's ancestral roots is reflected in the committees formed to create new classrooms representing the cultures of Turkey, Switzerland, the Philippines and Korea. As these rooms take their places around the Commons Room, they will add new dimensions of pride and understanding to the unique totality of America's heritage.”

Dear Friend,

You are invited to attend the first public meeting of the Iranian Nationality Room Committee.  This is a new initiative of the Nationality Rooms Program at the University of Pittsburgh. It will take place on February 13th, from 2:00 - 4:00 PM, in the English Nationality Room, (First floor, room 144) at the Cathedral of Learning, The University of Pittsburgh (see attached map).

Just imagine having the Iranian Nationality Room among the 27 other rooms in the Cathedral of Learning.  The Room would provide visitors the opportunity to glimpse at our rich culture and explore its contributions to human civilization.  Please join us and other supporters in attending this meeting to help the Iranian Nationality Room to become a reality.

During this meeting, the project will be introduced.  A committee with several subcommittees will be established. We will try to outline committee tasks and kick off this monumental initiative. This is a dream and ambition for many of us in the Iranian-American community of the greater Pittsburgh area, in particular, and in the US in general. We want to share our culture, architecture and traditions along with those of the 27 other nationalities who are represented.

A free guided tour of the Nationality Rooms will leave the Gift Center at 1 PM sharp. Tour is optional but highly recommended to the participants. Please see the enclosed map of the Nationality Rooms.

Your presence and participation in this major undertaking will be a lasting legacy for our generation and to future generations of Iranian-Americans as we share and take pride in the contributions of our motherland to our new homeland.

Thank you and we look forward to seeing you there.
