We are thrilled by the number of people who have confirmed that they would attend the festival! Thanks to everybody and hope you all enjoy the event. Here are some final notes: First, a reminder: Persian Cultural Festival is going to be held on Saturday, Oct. 2nd starting from 6pm at the Waffle Shop (NOT Pitt/CMU campus!) and a lounge next door. The address is 124 S Highland Ave, Pittsburgh, PA 15206 (corner of Highland and Baum). A detailed map of the venue with further details will be available at the event. Admission fee would be collected at the door (only for the dinner); $5 for students and $10 for all others.
Program: - 6-7pm: Movie screening
- Movie title: Rick Steves' Iran Documentary
- Persian-style brewed Tea and snacks served
- 7-8:30pm: Dinner
- A menu consisting of fabulous Persian dishes and Kubideh from the Kitchen
- 7:15-8:15pm: Cultural Discussion*
- Ask and answer questions over the dinner. Chat with anybody you like or join the group discussion.
- 8:15-8:45pm: Traditional Music
- 9-9:45pm: Cooking show
- Learn how Iranian dishes and desserts are prepared.
- 9:30pm-12am: Dance to the Persian beats!
*: The discussion could continue after the cooking show if the participants would like it to. Notes: - Parking: There is a higher chance you can park in a conveniently close spot if you come sooner. Many of the neighboring streets have meters and there is also a big parking lot on Centre Ave. between Whole Foods Market and Highland Ave.
- Attire: Dress as you like. We encourage you to wear traditional/ethnic outfits if you can (there are already a few people who are doing so). It will make it more fun and give a chance to us to expose another element of our country's culture.
- Compared to PSO and Persian Panthers regular celebrations, this event would be a bit more casual. Also, there would be a limited number of seats which means a few of the guests might have to enjoy their dinner while standing. We do understand it may not be very comfortable and apologize about it; but we believe it would provide a greater chance of mixing with the people over there which we hope you would find appealing.
