The winter break is coming up (and the winter weather is already here) and we're all anxious to get to our traveling, celebrating, relaxing or whatever else it is we might be planning on doing. But before we all scatter, let's get together for our annual Yalda celebration!
Here are the details:
Date: Saturday, December 18th (we had originally planned for the 17th, but have had to change the date)
Time: 8:00 PM - midnight
Location: The Assembly Room in the University of Pittsburgh's William Pitt Union (map)
Admission Fee: $5 for students, $10 for non-students (to be collected at the door)
RSVP: Required
Food: There won't be a full
dinner, but we will have Ash-e reshte, fruit (including, of course, pomegranate and
watermelon), nuts, tea, and sweets.
The plan for this year will be
slightly different from years past, in that we're going to focus more on
performances. Before 10:00 PM, we'll have live traditional music,
poetry readings, a presentation or two and some other features; after
10:00 PM, there will be the usual pop music and dancing.
See you on Saturday,
Persian Panthers
